The Swatch Royal Pop releases worldwide on Saturday May 16th 2026, in person only, at roughly 200 selected Swatch boutiques. It is an eight-piece collection of bioceramic pocket watches — not wristwatches — co-developed by Audemars Piguet and Swatch Group. Six Lépine pieces retail at €385; two Savonnette pieces retail at €400. There is no online sale from Swatch and no stock at Audemars Piguet boutiques. This page collects every confirmed detail in one place, last updated May 14th 2026 — two days before the drop.
The release date and time
The Royal Pop goes on sale on Saturday May 16th 2026. Each boutique sells from its normal Saturday opening hour in local time, which means the drop rolls across time zones rather than happening at a single global moment — Tokyo and Sydney open first, the Americas last. Swatch publishes the full participating-store list shortly before the drop; not every Swatch boutique is included, so confirm your nearest stocking location rather than assuming. If the MoonSwatch is any guide, expect queues to form well before opening at flagship stores.
Price — and why it's higher than the MoonSwatch
The six Lépine pocket watches (crown at 12) retail at €385. The two Savonnette pieces — Lan Ba and Otg Roz, with a crown at 3 and a petite seconde subdial — retail at €400. That is meaningfully above the 2022 MoonSwatch's €260 debut, and the difference is engineering: a reconstructed hand-wound Sistem51 movement, a Nivachron antimagnetic balance spring, fifteen newly filed patents, sapphire crystal front and back, hand-applied halftone dial work, and a calfskin lanyard with a colour-matched bioceramic click attachment. For a full currency-by-currency breakdown, see the Royal Pop price guide.
The eight colorways
Each Royal Pop is named with the word "eight" in a different language — a tribute to the octagonal Royal Oak bezel and its eight visible hex screws. Six are Lépine; two are Savonnette.

Where it sells — and where it doesn't
The Royal Pop sells in person only, at roughly 200 selected Swatch boutiques worldwide. Two things it is not: there is no swatch.com online sale, and Audemars Piguet boutiques carry no stock. AP's role in this collaboration is design and movement engineering, not distribution. That single-channel model is deliberate — it concentrates demand into physical queues and keeps the launch a shared event rather than a server-load problem.
The rules Swatch is enforcing
- ·One piece per person per store per day. Boutiques may check ID at the counter to enforce it.
- ·No reservations. Swatch is not taking pre-orders or holds for this release at boutique level — it is first-come, first-served on the day.
- ·Colorway availability varies by store. Not every boutique receives every colorway, and quantities per colorway are not published in advance.
- ·Charity commitment. 100% of Audemars Piguet's share of proceeds is donated to the Audemars Piguet Foundation, which funds youth, education and environmental causes.
How to get one if you can't queue
If there is no participating boutique near you, or you can't commit a Saturday morning to a queue with no guarantee, an independent resale service is the realistic route. We are not affiliated with Swatch or Audemars Piguet. The model is straightforward: you join our sourcing list with your preferred colorway, our buyers collect pieces in person at full Swatch retail on May 16th, and we contact you to confirm a match and arrange tracked, insured worldwide shipping. There is no payment flow to navigate before we have a piece in hand — we reach out when we can actually fill your request.
For a tactical breakdown of every buying path and its realistic odds, read the release day strategy guide, and to weigh queuing against listing, see whether the waitlist is worth it.
